New Funky Estelle - Pretty Please feat Cee Lo

Now when Estelle first appeared on the UK scene a few years ago, she was primarily a rapper. Her first mainstream success came from the single “1980″ which we didn’t think was that hot, but not that bad either. This time around though, she seems to have gone to work on her singing, and teamed up with some American producers and coming with some really funky and rnb style singles and videos.

In this track particularly she is backed up by one Mr Cee Lo Green, who was completely slept on by the mainstream before the drop of Gnarls Barkley. Ironically, he is also another rapper turn singer, who has done plenty of cool RnB and funk tracks during his career.

What is most interesting though is that Mr Jack Splash, of Plant Life fame, also is involved in this track, which explains the throwback old school funk sound mixed with motown that is really gaining popularity this year. What we at Blue Funk are wondering though, is if this track was some how attached to the project Cee Lo and Jack Splash were working on named “The Heart Attack.” A few tracks leaked a year or so ago, and to our knowledge the complete album was never officially released.

The Heart Attack tracks that we heard were in a very similar vein to this new Estelle single. If anyone knows what the outcome of that project was, definitely leave a comment for us!
